This annual conference, which has previously been known as the ASM Biodefense and Emerging Diseases Research Meeting, will focus on the fields of bioterrorism, biodefense, and recent trends of administration and planning of biothreat strategies. Any new data related to bioterrorism from microbiological science research will be discussed at the event, as well as the latest preventative tactics, the diagnosis of high risk diseases, and the minimization of the risks associated with high consequence pathogen research. The reduction of biological threats and worldwide public health policies will also be explored.
The 2019 meeting will introduce a pre-meeting seminar called Biothreats Peer-to-Peer. This meeting will allow many students and young professionals to share their research and connect with a diverse group of experts in this field.
This year, the forum has invited speakers from the full biothreats program to share their careers with the audience and discuss job opportunities. In addition, a new session this year is named The Business of Biothreats: An Entrepreneurial Challenge. In this session, the members of this event will be able to present their ideas to the ASM Biothreats Panel to tackle the numerous bioterror challenges.
I will be posting about the results of the 2019 ASM Biothreats Conference in early February. In the meantime, I encourage you all to visit their website below for more information:
